Celebrating Our Founder, Dorothy J. Murnane

August 7, 1926-May 13, 2020

Dorothy passed peacefully on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima, May 13, 2020. Her funeral mass and celebration of life took place on May 25th at Saint Michael’s church, which also happened to be the birth date of Saint Pio. The next day Dorothy was laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.

Would it surprise you to learn that the roles of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were the roles that made her most proud? Would you find it interesting that for many years she had displayed in her office, near her desk, beautiful images of Padre Pio and Our Lady of Fatima? As we look back together on these events, we recognize the hand of God in her life. Dorothy, and husband Tom Murnane, began supplying Parishes with their Sunday Church bulletins in 1974 from the family room in their home.

The bulletin business we have today rests upon their foundation of faith, hard work, honesty, integrity and compassionate service to their parish clients.

As husband and wife, they built long-term working relationships throughout the Catholic community and with the diocesan clergy, whom they supported both as parishioners and friends.

When Tom passed away in 1979 following a battle with cancer, Dorothy carried on the family business with her strong faith and her understanding of the needs in the Catholic community. She was actively involved in running her company until her late 80s and, even past this time, would frequently visit for lunch and share a “Hi! Hi! Hi!” with her beloved employees.

Dee Printing remains a family-owned and operated business. Tom and Dorothy’s daughter Cathy guides the company as its owner. Tom’s son and Dorothy’s stepson, Richard, provides leadership as its sales manager. Their grandchildren, Kati and Joseph, are carrying on the family tradition by them both working on the sales team.

Dee Printing honors Dorothy’s legacy by following her example every day in the work we do with our parishes. We will strive to serve our parishes with the same professionalism, honesty and hard work that she and Tom did for many years.

Dorothy did, indeed, have a lot of fun, and we are all better for it.

Our Purpose

Family is at the heart of Dee Printing's company culture. Founders Dorothy and Tom wanted to develop a printing service that emphasized togetherness and trusting relationships within daily business, so that staff and clients alike feel they can count on one another in a special way.

Dee understands and values the importance of parishes needing to communicate in different and specific ways as they are, indeed, families of their own.  Parish members want to feel like they can reach out and relate to their brothers and sisters in Christ, and Dee is committed to assisting with this in the best, most effective way possible.

Our clients can trust us to adhere to their parish image, and we will help them develop effective print communication materials to represent their unique family.
